Thinking of Val....

Please keep Val and her family in your thoughts this evening. They have had to make a very difficult choice and today they have said goodbye to their dog Tippy.

Thinking of you Val, James and family.

Perfect weather for flying a kite

It has been so windy here since yesterday, so Lloyd came home work and we got the kite out again and flew it for a while...it was so much fun! Quite a workout chasing after the damn thing and having to try and get it up into the air again!

It's not easy to get a picture of kite flying as I only had Chris's camera and it needed a wide angled lens really...so these are the only pics I got!

I am not very good with a kite but I had fun trying - it did get VERY high...oh and then one time I managed to make it dive and hit Lloyd! He fell on the ground lol - not that I was trying to hit him lol...but it was so funny! Thats the thanks he gets for buying me roses lol!

The last piccy is Sammy watching us with the kite from the swing with Charlie....

Charlie reminds me of my Mom!

Not that my Mom is a fat pig or anything lol....but on Monday night we were sat out by the fire, and Charlie was with us...and she pushes in front of you and hogs (ha what a pun - hog!) the heat and she stands with her bum to the fire and wiggles closer to warm up her bum!!! Too funny! My Mom used to do the same - we had real fires when I was little and my Mom would stand in front of the fire and pull up her skirt to warm the backs of her legs and her bum lol!

Hahahahahaha So no, I'm not calling my Mom a fat pig (hehehehe) but Charlie does remind me of her lol! Sorry Mom!

Charlie wants attention!!!!

Charlie was so grouchy this evening lol....we were all outside flying the kite and she obviously didn't like the kite getting all the attention, so she tried to chew the strings....that didn't work, so then when the kite was on the ground she was VERY quick and SAT on the kite!!!! She refused to budge and believe me, pushing a pot bellied pig is NOT easy!!! Funny piggy! Sometimes she is just so determined to have her own way....

Ok...I admit it......

..........I'm a spoiled brat!!!! Lloyd had to pick up some cream for the dinner tonight and while there he picked up some beautiful red roses for me...and then while paying for them, he noticed a magazine with all Halloweeny things on the cover that he thought I'd like!!!!

I love you Lloyd....no idea what I did to deserve you baby but I love the flowers and they look gorgeous in my Nans vase! Thank you so much!

Fresh air and a gusty breeze...

Perfect weather for kite flying......DH came home early and we took the parafoil kite out to fly......it was good fun...A joined in for a while before disappearing onto the climbing frame with S.

Feeding the horses...

This has become one of Abigails favourite things to do...walking over Marys land to say hello to the horses there.....giving them some hay and a nose rub :)

These pics are from Christophers camera and are from Thanksgiving afternoon.....

Can you Can-can?

This afternoon we spent a (long) while on this great website: www.starfall.com

We especially loved the page about the Musical Composers. It plays clips of music by the famous composers as well as involving reading and letter sounds....When the Can-can came on, we couldn't resist getting up and trying it! It has been a LONG time since I last danced the can-can! Now I'm tired :) But it was a lot of fun!

A also had fun using the www.aplusmath.com website this morning.

Don't Fall into Doris's Crack!

I am not normally very keen on modern art...piles of junk or a pile of chairs, but I actually like this one.....I've been to the Tate several times...I used to live near London....and I wish I could visit it now to see this work for myself!!!

Edited to add - I asked Lloyd his thoughts on this piece of art this evening and his exact words were : 'It's a load of old bollocks'......he's SUCH an art critic ;)

Sam in the sink...

Sam this morning sat in the bathroom sink washing his car...and his feet lol! He spent AGES in there just sat there playing with the water and his car....and his feet :)

Piccy is from my cell phone lol!

Workbooks and Countdown...

We bought several workbooks on Saturday at Scholars Choice...A has always loved workbooks - they were supposed to be for 'schooldays' when the older children are in school, but A hasn't put them down since....one is almost completes and the other books have many pages already completed.....they are simple pages I must admit....A needs to work out single digit addition or subtraction sums to figure out which colour she needs to colour the picture...or she needs to read the sentence and then change certain words to plurals or fill in the missing word etc etc.....

She loves this kind of thing and even sits up way after bedtime to do some!

The good thing with these books is that they involve reading, writing AND math in the same page.....so even though she asks to do 'math' she is doing LA too :)

This morning at 8am she bursts into my room asking to play the 'math game'. We bought a new game called Countdown...its a wooden game and can be as simple or as complicated as you like. We sat on the bed and played with S...in fact S won the first round! You throw the dice and then depending on the sum of the dice you can knock certain numbers off of your side...the first with all their numbers knocked down wins.....we did simple addition - it's a good game for getting you to speed up your counting skills and learn to recognise sums just by looking at the dice quickly instead of counting.

Yesterday the school sent home all of A's supplies. Today they phoned to say the fees will be refunded and they are sending home her school pictures for us to order.

We also got her latest book order through yesterday - so this afternoon we will sit and read all the new books that arrived!
