FOR TODAY...

Outside my window...it has been snowing for the last few days - just lightly but constantly, and it has been accumulating.  The trees look so beautiful all covered in heavy snow.  I noticed it was light when the children walked for the school bus this morning - days are getting longer :)

I am thinking...about Rhona and her family, who said goodbye to their little dog today after 9 1/2 years.  It's so hard to say goodbye to a pet even when you know you are doing what is best for them.

I am thankful for...a cozy house full of laughter today, fun family life, my camera for capturing memories.

I am wearing... a black top with holes in it, because I don't want to wear a good one at home any more because I'm just going to get more holes in them....so I am just going to wear the ones with holes in them when I'm at home!  Where do these holes come from????

I am remembering...the day my neighbour killed the rabbit!!  My Ex emailed me today to remind me of the day we watched my neighbour accidently kill a pet rabbit....omg it was so funny...but not.....if you know what I mean....

I am going... to bed early tonight - I was awake at 5:20am today because Lloyd woke me up when he got in the shower.

I am currently reading...Family Fun magazine (Valentine crafts), Scrapbook Inspirations, CK magazine.  Body and Soul magazine.....nothing deep - just magazines :)

I am hoping...the weather warms up towards the end of the week so we can get out and enjoy this new snow.

On my mind...frustration over a couple of people and a certain situation - different people/ same situation.....sigh

Noticing that.....the more I stay home, the more relaxed I am - the more relaxed I am, the happier I am - the happier I am, the happier everyone else is!  I am feeling very much like being a homebody right now!

Pondering these words... I now pronounce you Husband and Wife...remembering that day :)

From the kitchen...I made yummy potato and bacon soup for dinner tonight - it's another favourite here.  I left the skins on the potatoes when I diced them and as they broke down, so did the skins.  It adds extra fibre and extra vitamin c.  We eat the soup with wholewheat buns and it disappears fast - very warming on a cold snowy day like today.

Around the house...normal family life....Chris has the week off of school this week.  Susie and Laurie have Friday off.  Making plans for Susannah's birthday and Abigail and Sam's party.

One of my favorite things...relaxing in my chair digital scrapbooking and listening to Justin Hines

Fossil cookies!!

Today we made Dinosaur Fossil Cookies by pressing toy dinosaurs into cookies and then baking them so that the imprints were left in the cookies :)  Sam really enjoyed making them!

Unfortunately Mommy got distracted and forgot about them until the smell from the oven reminded me - oops!  So they were a little too well done!!  The birds got most of them!!!  Sam was happy with the ones he had though and we will definitely do this again!!

Sam told me he especially loved licking the cookie dough off of the feet hahahaha!

cupcakes :)

Abigail and Sam made me cupcakes today out of playdoh :)
YUM!!!  :)

This morning Abigail did a type of math called 'M&M math' which basically consisted of a series of worksheets of sums that she had to answer by using M&M's to work the sums out!

Sam decided he wanted to count all the cups in the house.  It worked out quite well because he ended up emptying the clean dishwashers :)

Sam spends most of his days playing with his soldiers and creating battles all over the house.  At night Lloyd has a platoon too and they battle against each other.  When the older children are home from school, they will sometimes play 'war' with Sam and make up big battles - Sam LOVES this and it all goes very seriously with sound effects and countries being chosen.....Chris is the favourite to play against  because of his sound effects during the battles.

These soldiers and the little tanks that came with them are probably Sams favourite toy lately.  We bought him a small pack last year at the dollar store and he loved them so much that we bought a big tub for his birthday that came with tanks and helicopters.  He has learned so much about wars and battles, guns and tactics from playing with these toys and he frequently asks me to look things up on youtube - like yesterday I had to show him a missile launch.

I's so funny to watch Sam playing these games with Lloyd - he always has sooo many more men than Lloyd and he always manages to kill off all Lloyds soldiers so quickly!  Lloyds side doesn't stand a chance :)  But Sam has soooooo much fun!!!

Soft and downy...

It has been gently snowing since Friday night I think.....a fresh blanket of snow covering up all the dirt.  It's beautiful outside and the trees are laden with heavy mounds of fluffy snow.
So very pretty outside.

Blue Jays take over.....

I tried to get a picture of all three of them on the feeder at once, but this was the best I could do - they all flew away when I got closer!!  The Blue Jays look so beautiful in the snowy scenery.  A splash of colour in the black and white world.
